Prologue to the Transat AG2R-La Mondiale: Lufthansa 6th!

Superb prologue one week before the start of the Transat AG2R-La Mondiale in sunny Concarneau before millions of visitors who had come to support the 25 teams.

Brilliant sunshine, north-easterly winds of 20 knots and a virtually flat sea provided fantastic conditions for the prologue to the 10th Transat AG2R-La Mondiale held on Sunday, 11 April.

The 25 Figaro Bénéteau made a fantastic sight in Concarneau Bay on the 9-mile course between Port la Forêt and the Pointe de la Jument. It is also an opportunity for skippers to make some final alterations, check all equipment is in good working order and test the new sails before the start of the upcoming Transat, which leaves for Saint Barthélémy in the Antilles next Sunday, 18 April.

Much to the satisfaction of Lufthansa skipper, Ronan Treussart, and his teammate, Yannick Le Clech, Lufthansa finished sixth out a total of 25 participants. “It was fairly choppy, but overall really nice,” said Ronan Treussart after the event. “The opportunity to gain or lose places came right at the end, in the Chenal de Concarneau. It wasn’t particularly wide and there were extreme wind fluctuations, hence suspense was retained to the very last minute. We were sailing with our new sails for the first time. We’re happy with them; they meet our expectations. We have no worries about the speed, which gives us confidence. I can’t wait to leave next Sunday.” The prologue was won by seasoned duo, Yann Eliès and Jérémie Beyou, on Generali - Europ Assistance.
