Ronan Treussart – Lufthansa, 7th in the French Championship

Ronan Treussart (Lufthansa) climbs back up to seventh place in the French Offshore Racing Championship.

At the end of a busy season, which was particularly successful, Ronan Treussart, the Lufthansa skipper climbed back up from 29th to 7th place in the French Single-handed Offshore Racing Championship.

“I’m particularly pleased to have completed this season on a very high note. For me, ending up as seventh skipper in France in the rankings out of 51 taking part, is a great performance. The 2011 schedule will be even busier and more varied, and I shall really be raring to go,” declared Ronan Treussart.

WOW Cap Istanbul: Lufthansa finishes in tenth place out of 26

A 1590-mile long race, but also a fantastic voyage offering some beautiful sights.

After setting out from Hyères on 19th September and sailing five exciting legs in the Mediterranean, the 26 Figaro racers reached Istanbul in the rain on the evening of Wednesday 13th October. While everyone was keen to win a leg, they all enjoyed some wonderful scenery along the way: The French Riviera, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, the Greek islands, Turkey and the Bosphorus.

The “WOW Cap Istanbul” is underway

Lufthansa got off to a great start at the front heading towards Sicily, the first stopover in the race.

600 miles.  That is the distance the competitors in the WOW Cap Istanbul have to sail to reach Ragusa in the south of Sicily. In other words between three and five days of sailing depending on the weather conditions they encounter along the way. Looking at the initial forecasts, the race looks like being rather slow particularly after they pass Corsica...

And they’re off! Following the traditional farewells on the pontoons, the 25 duos competing in the 10th Transat AG2R-La Mondiale set off from Concarneau at 2 o’clock this Sunday.

Ronan Treussart and Yannick Le Clech on Lufthansa were in the lead at the first buoy. 3,890 miles must be covered before they will reach St. Barts.

Launch of the Lufthansa Figaro!

Following several weeks in the dry docks at the facilities in the Port du Légué in Saint-Brieuc for a complete check-up in preparation for the 2010 season, the Lufthansa Figaro was launched on Monday, 25 January.

Once everything had been reassembled and checked, the boat returned to its home port in Saint-Quay-Portrieux (22). The sails are currently in production, and in a few days time, skipper Ronan Treussart will take his Figaro to the Pôle Course au Large in Port-La-Forêt (29).

The winner of the 2009 Longtze European Tour, German airline Lufthansa, is an enthusiastic, passionate and talented participant in the 2010 Figaro Circuit!

Lufthansa first became involved in the world of sailing just last year, participating in the first Longtze European Tour and its five events. The challenge of defending the airline’s title is up to the team led by skipper Luc Gellusseau (8 times World Champion) aboard the “Longtze Team Lufthansa - FRA 818”. Lufthansa put on a brilliant performance to win the title following a suspense-filled, emotional competition. “Performance, innovation, emotion and ecology are all essential in sailing.”
